Psoriasis is known as one of the autoimmune diseases that cause scaling of the skin, and is most common around the age of 15-25, but the onset of psoriasis is often confused with eczema.

Psoriasis can start anywhere on the skin, but it is most common in the following places:

  • elbows;
  • drive.
  • legs.
  • scalp.
  • lower back
  • hands or feet.
  • Interior.

Types of psoriasis in its infancy

There are several types that may appear at the beginning of psoriasis and are accompanied by many symptoms that indicate them. Symptoms of this type are accompanied as follows:

1. Plate

Plaques appear on a raised surface of the skin in red, purple or silver color. This is the most common type of psoriasis, accounting for 80-90% of all cases.

In its early stages, spots or plaques raised from the surface of the skin appear inflamed and swollen, and cause itching in the person.

2. Gotta

This type causes small red or purple spots on the skin that appear suddenly and disappear without the need for any treatment.

Oblique spots first appear around the trunk, arm or leg and progress to other areas of the body.

3. Reverse psoriasis

4. Pustular psoriasis

As for this type of psoriasis, it appears on the hands and feet in the form of blisters filled with pus, and these pimples cause the medical staff to confuse them with acne in the diagnosis when they first appear, but when these blisters dry out, peel off and appear in the form of brown spots.

5. Erythrodermic psoriasis

Erythrodermic psoriasis is one of the rare types of psoriasis that pose a threat to the patient’s life. Because of the loss of a large part of the skin layers.

It appears in the form of burning on large areas of the skin, there are early symptoms that indicate this, which are as follows:

  • severe pain
  • itching;
  • in the form
  • muscle weakness;
  • increased heart rate;

Psoriasis diagnosis

There are several methods of diagnosis, including the following:,

  • Ask questions about the patient’s general health.
  • Examination of the skin, scalp and nails.
  • Taking a sample of the skin for examination under a microscope, called a biopsy.

Psoriasis treatment

After confirming the diagnosis, the doctor will determine the treatment according to the patient’s condition, as follows:,

  • topical medications

There are several medications used, including the following:

  • Steroid creams: In order to slow down the reaction of the immune cells in the skin, which reduces swelling and redness.
  • Salicylic acid: It softens and thins flaky skin, while at the same time it can irritate the skin.
  • Calcipotriol: A type of synthetic vitamin D that controls overactive skin cells.
  • light therapy

Light therapy, which has been shown to slow the growth of rapidly growing cells in sufferers.

  • immunosuppressive therapy

If the onset of psoriasis progresses to a moderate to severe degree, the doctor will prescribe this type of treatment to slow down the entire immune system.
